Answer: Reasonable suspicion is that amount of evidence which is required for police to stop a person on suspicion of criminal activity. This is an interesting area of law here in Wisconsin because the United States Supreme Court has held that the police may stop vehicles upon only probable cause of a traffic offense. But Wisconsin has held that such stops can be allowed on only reasonable suspicion, a lesser standard. This is leading to a great deal of litigation in our state.
